Charter
Provide opportunities to local K-12 students to get involved in Society activities and promote further secondary education in engineering, the sciences and mathematics. Society activities include career days at local schools, support for local science fairs, sponsoring students at SAME engineering construction camps, and the Mathcounts program.
Activities
Engineering & Construction Camps
Each summer the Kittyhawk Post sponsors two area high school students to attend the SAME Engineering and Construction Camps. This year the Kittyhawk Post sponsored one student to attend the United States Air Force Academy camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado and another to attend the Navy SeaBee camp in Port Hueneme, California.
If you are interested in applying for the SAME engineering camps contact Ryan Schlosser
Science Fair Judging
One of the K-12 Outreach committee’s main focus areas is support the local schools in education and specifically in technical disciplines. A way we accomplish this is providing judges for science fairs. Judges are a critical component of this building block toward a technical education. From designing hybrid materials to studying the biological remediation of environmental problems using plants; you’ll be amazed at the projects these young develop. If you are interested in volunteering as a judge please contact Capt Vincent Dutter.
